The screen fades to show the massive Estel Andros Amphitheatre on Istic I where three individuals are standing in a grand centre stage. As the camera focuses in, you recognise these figures as the three Consuls of the Triumvirate Coalition, Consul Gilbert Taylor, Consul Jar-Tan Kem and Consul Eimit`fy Nadgob. Consul Kem approaches the podium.
"Welcome Coalitioners, allies and friends, to our main event of the Seventh Triumvirate Celebrations. As a brief introduction for our guests to this fine amphitheatre and to our government, the Coalition is led by three Consuls, appropriately a triumvirate. Up until tonight there have been a total of six Triumvirates since our first steps into the galaxy as the Triumvirate Security Force settling on Pesmenben III so many years ago. That first Triumvirate was led by Consuls Gilbert Taylor, Estel Andros, and Dexter Holland. Since that time there have been many Consuls, Raynar Holland, Eldor Aldaris, Evan Bluvius, Chronos Darkwater and Aurius Karden, all good friends moved on to quieter pastures."
Consul Kem pauses and looks to the large gathered crowd.
"We reach the end of the Sixth Triumvirate today, with Consuls Gilbert Taylor, Eimit`fy Nadgob, and myself, Jar-Tan Kem. Over the years we have grown from a small insignificant security force on the edge of the then-alliance Confederacy of Independent Systems to a large government at the forefront of the war against the Imperial Union as a key member of the Galactic Alliance, and it is these men who have all helped guide us to each new stage of our development. We are all here today to celebrate two of these men, Gilbert Taylor and Eimit`fy Nadgob, and to also announce a new era in the Coalition, the Seventh Triumvirate."
Jar-Tan motions Consul Nadgob to the podium, shaking hands as they pass. Looking out to the crowd the Consul salutes as they cheer. When silence once again takes over, Eimit`fy starts to speak.
"Thank you my friends, I stand before you today to usher in a new era in Coalition history. Many, many, years ago I found a home with the Triumvirate Security Force, a family in the Coalition. I have grown with this family and have in turn helped it grow as well. I feel like I have given it my all to reach this point, this pinnacle of the Coalition's evolution and development on the galactic stage. Like my good friend Consul Taylor, and all the old friends Consul Kem mentioned, we have given our all to build this foundation for you, the Coalition. A foundation which today I feel is the right time to let others build upon."
"As such I will be stepping down as a Consul of the Triumvirate Coalition and enjoying my retirement here in the wilderness of Istic I, hunting and fishing. Of course this means the Triumvirate will need a new Consul... Praetor Dero Racto, can you please join me on stage?"
Praetor Racto rises from his seat and approaches the podium, shaking hands and nodding along the way.
"My good friend Dero, we've known each other for some years now. Former Commanding Officer of Logistics, current leader of Triumvirate Space Technologies, Senator, Chairman of the Senate, and many other titles and accolades that I've forgotten. Today it is time to add another to that list of titles. I am officially offering you the position of Consul of the Coalition, do you accept?"
Dero pauses as the room goes silent. He then turns to give his reply:
"My old friend Eimit`fy, I'm honoured to take on the position as Consul of the Coalition. So yes, I accept. As my first act as a Consul, I would give you, Eimit`fy, the honorary rank of Proconsul."
Cheers erupt as the two are met with well wishers on stage. As everything dies down again, Consul Kem once more approaches the stage.
"On behalf of the Coalition I would like to thank my good friend Proconsul Nadgob for his years of service, and wish him all the best with hunting. Also I want to welcome Consul Racto as a fellow Consul, he is a close friend and one who I am sure will do us all proud. I now welcome Consul Gilbert Taylor, a founding Consul no less, to the podium."
Consul Taylor moves to the podium, shaking hands and exchanging a work with Consul Kem as he passes.
"Galactic Alliance members, and friends from across the galaxy. Welcome! I have traveled the length and breadth of the galaxy in my time and I have always said, and continue to say, this is one of the most incredible communities I have ever come across. It has been my honour to work with members of the Coalition both past and present, as well as members of the Galactic Alliance and the wider galaxy. Today I formally announce my stepping down from the position of Consul. The Coalition has achieved more than I ever thought possible and I am confident it will continue to prosper into the future, providing a beacon of hope for the whole galaxy."
Gilbert turns and looks to someone offstage.
"If you would please join me on the stage?"
The individual in question climbs up to the stage, revealing himself as former Praetor and current Consel-General Mephiston Leonatos.
"Mephiston Leonatos, I have known you for many years now. I would like to offer you the position of Consul, would you accept?"
The Consel-General shakes Gilbert's hand and replies:
"I gladly and gratefully accept Consul Taylor. As my first act as Consul I bestow upon you the honourary title of Proconsul. Also, to ensure you stick around and share your stories and a glass of ale with us all every so often!"
Laughter and cheers shake the amphitheatre as the three Consuls of the Seventh Triumvirate join each other on the stage, Consul Jar-Tan Kem, Consul Dero Racto and Consul Mephiston Leonatos. Gesturing for silence, Jar-Tan once more takes the podium.
"We have one more announcement tonight, the first official act of the Seventh Triumvirate. In the lead up to this day, myself, Mephiston and Dero all discussed and agreed that focus and direction of this Triumvirate is to give back to the members. Many more announcements of this vein will be given in appropriate time. Firstly though, in order to help spread around the wealth of the Coalition to all it's citizens, we announce today a new pay scale has been created. Doubling old pay at lower ranks, while being less of an increase to the higher ranks."
"To the Coalition!"
The screen fades to the classic TCNN logo, and returns to regular programming. |
